TO INNOVATE

BitSpark's driving force comes from a passion to develop new and interesting games and features. Not content with making clones - BitSpark aims for games that stand out as unique, exciting and innovative in the crowded video games market.

TO ENTERTAIN

Why do people play games? To have fun! So why should we be making games? Because we enjoy it! BitSpark is a studio that is committed to making sure that you enjoy your experience of our games and be there to listen and take on board your feedback if you don't!

BE INDEPENDENT

Once you buy a game, you should receive all the features that game includes. BitSpark hopes to avoid releasing features as DLC or expansions by using crowd funding and early access to stay afloat instead of relying on publishers or shareholders, which leaves control of the game and it's direction in our hands.

ABOUT CHARLIE

The mind behind the spark

I am Charlie Parsons, a Game Development student in my final year at university. My dissertation project, Special Space Force, is going to be developed post graduation and into a full release by my company, BitSpark Entertainment.

BitSpark Entertainment was theorised a few years ago as the title of the studio that I would start-up. Since then I have developed branding and a my skills as a developer, and officially launched BitSpark Entertainment in 2021.

My journey to becoming a game developer starts 8 years ago, while I was working full time on the phones for a repair company. I started off trying to code games in Game Maker Studio, an editor with a unique coding language that tried to be easier for new game developers. After I had limited success with this engine but hugely enjoyed the experience, figuring out how it worked and trying to create cool game with a relatively limited set of tools. I decided to apply for a Computing with Game Development Degree at the University of Plymouth, as they not only offered to teach me game creation in engines like Unity but also other topics such as HTML, JavaScript and C++, even business skills, all things that will be useful throughout my life as a developer.

My results from secondary school were not great but I was able to get onto the foundation degree which I passed with flying colours. I pressed on and completed several prototypes of games during my years at university; check those out below!

Now that I have the prototype underway for Special Space Forces, I am closer than ever to my dream of releasing my own games for people to enjoy.
